First hot long distance trainings of 2012 took place in Southern Bohemia flats and mountains. The result is slightly less than 1000km with some good feelings.
After two weeks in the States, we are back in a relatively good shape for long distances. In the surroundings of Třeboň and České Budějovice, we accomplished a good long distance trainings in flat and also some hills up to 2500m of height difference / day.
Most interesting were these two rundabouts:
Complete traverse of the mountains of Nové Hrady – alone on the 150km track – easy kicking in superb weather. Less than 10 hours with no hurries.
King mountain stage Hluboká – Prachatice – Šumava and back – great trip with 2500m height difference comparable to middle alpine TdF stages. 180km in cold weather conditions has been tough at the beginning with 12% short climbs around Prachatice. Later really enjoyable with some sun and longer downhills back home. Kicked in less than 12 hours – no major muscle problems, just being a bit tired.
